“Attachment Behavior Characterizes Human Beings From the Cradle to the Grave”
In my Private Practice, I remind my clients that life is all about the power of attachment and our willingness to accept that relationships are essential to human survival.
1. How to request a first appointment
Setting up a first appointment with me is as simple as calling my office at 858-452-8467. Most likely you will receive my voicemail, as I cannot answer the phone while in session with another client. Please leave me a message and I will call you back as soon as possible, within 24 hours, so that we can discuss your needs further.
2. What to expect in the first session
In the initial session, usually 75-90 minutes for a couple or family, 50-60 minutes for individual therapy. I will spend time getting to know you and your partner or family members better. We will discuss your specific needs and goals for therapy as well as the changes you would like to see happen in your relationships. We will spend time discussing a realistic plan for how I can help you meet those goals. Of course, you’ll also get a chance to get to know me better so feel free to ask any questions you, your partner or family members may have.
Initial paperwork and things to bring
For the first session, it is helpful if you can fill out and bring in 2 forms: the Patient Registration Form and the Life Functioning Inventory, although you really only need to bring yourself and, if appropriate, your insurance card. As I am no longer an in-network insurance provider, paperwork should be kept to a minimum.
As a courtesy to our clients we are happy to process insurance claims where possible. If your insurance includes qualified out of network benefits and you meet the deductible we can help. Claiming for out of network costs can be a headache with unfamiliar forms and medical codes to handle but we are happy to save you the trouble and process this for you.
However, if you participate in a PPO I am happy to provide the complementary service of submitting your billing as an Out of Network provider. For those clients choosing to pay out of pocket, a sliding fee schedule is also available. Feel free to ask any questions you may have on payment matters during our initial session.
